What is an oxidizer (also called developer or hydrogen) and is there a difference between brands? The short answer is NO! An oxidizer (developer or hydrogen) is a substance used in hair dyeing to develop the dye. It is mixed with the hair dye to activate the pigments and oxidize the hair, causing the new color to adhere to the hair strands.
The strength of the oxidizer/hydrogen is determined by the volume and can vary from 10 to 40 volume. (or 3%, 6%, 9% and 12 %. The only difference is the price ! That probably makes the choice a lot easier.
