What does IP67 mean?

  • 6 = Dustproof (completely dustproof):
The device is fully protected against dust ingress. This is the highest level of dust protection.

  • 7 = Water resistant up to 1 meter deep :
The device can be temporarily submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes without water ingress.

Charging cable type 2 - 22kW:

With the European-made type 2 charging cable, you can charge your electric car or PHEV with type 2 connection in any Wallbox or charging station at home or abroad. This charging cable is suitable for three-phase charging up to 32 amps. This makes it suitable for a maximum charging capacity of 22kW.

Flexible and durable charging cable:

What sets this type 2 charging cable apart from other charging cables is that the cable used is more flexible and durable than other charging cables on the market. The best cable is produced in Italy, and that is also the cable used in the production.

What makes this cable better is that it is made of a larger number of finer copper wires. This makes the cable more flexible and more resistant to right-angled bends.

Safe and strong construction:

The sheathing around the copper is specially designed to withstand high temperatures, rain and wear and is tested and certified for charging electric cars.

The plugs that have been developed are produced in one piece and are therefore not glued or screwed together. This makes the plugs stronger, more wear-resistant and more waterproof than other plugs on the market. The contact pins in the plug are made of 100% copper and then silver-plated to prevent rust and corrosion.

Charging cables are a consumable and wear and tear occurs. Because we are so sure of the quality of the charging cables, you get a 100% guarantee on the charging cables for the first 2 years and a 50% guarantee on the purchase price for up to 5 years.

Do Voldt charging cables have a loss of power due to the length of the cable?

No, Voldt® charging cables do not have any noticeable loss of power due to the length of the cable. Voldt® uses only high-quality copper conductors with low resistance, which means that even with longer cables (such as 20 or 30 meters), the current is transferred efficiently and without any significant voltage drop. The cables are designed according to international standards (such as IEC 61851 and IEC 62196), which set requirements for maximum voltage drop and heat development, so that charging performance always remains optimal.

Optimal core thickness prevents voltage loss:

For charging cables, it is theoretically possible that longer lengths will lead to some power loss, especially with thin cable cross-sections or lower quality materials. Voldt prevents this by choosing conductors with a sufficiently large core thickness, depending on the maximum current of the cable (for example 6 mm² for 32A 3-phase cables). This keeps the voltage loss to negligible values, usually less than 1%, which is well within the permitted margins. This is important for both the safety and efficiency of the charging process.

Tested for performance and safety:

Finally, it is good to know that Voldt tests all its charging cables for electrical performance, temperature development and reliability under load. This means that customers can trust that even longer cables of, for example, 30 meters perform just as well as shorter models. This makes Voldt® cables extremely suitable for use in situations where the charging station is further away from the vehicle, without compromising on charging speed or safety.

What is mode 3 charging?

Mode 3 charging of an electric vehicle (EV) is a charging method where the EV is charged via a dedicated charging station or wallbox with a controlled and secure communication between the car and the charging station. It is the most used and recommended way to charge at home and at public charging points.

Features of Mode 3 charging:

  1. Direct connection to a charging station
  2. Safety and intelligence
  3. Charging capacity
  4. Smart Charging

Advantages of Mode 3 charging:

✔️ Charge faster than standard household sockets (Mode 2).
✔️ Security guaranteed by built-in communication and security mechanisms.
✔️ Efficient energy management through smart charging functionalities.

Difference with other charging modes:

  • Mode 1: No communication between charging source and vehicle (old and not recommended method).
  • Mode 2: Charging via a wall socket with a special cable where a computer in the cable controls the charging.
  • Mode 4: DC fast charging (e.g. via CHAdeMO or CCS ) where direct current goes directly to the battery, often up to 350 kW.

In short, Mode 3 is the standard and recommended method for everyday EV charging , especially at home, in the office and at public charging points.

In what order do you charge the electric car?

To charge your electric car safely and correctly, follow these steps in the correct order:

  • First make sure your car is parked and turned off.
  • Next, if you are using a home or public charging station, take the charging cable and connect it to the charging station.
  • Then connect the other end of the charging cable to your vehicle's charging port.
  • Check that the connection is firm and correct.
  • If you are using a Mode 2 charging cable that plugs into a domestic socket, make sure the in-cable control box (ICCB) is properly inserted and connected before connecting the cable to the car.
  • Once everything is connected, charging will start automatically. If you are using a public charging station, you may need to activate the charging station.
  • While charging, monitor the charging status via the car dashboard or the charging station indicator.
  • Once charging is complete or if you want to stop charging, unplug the car before removing the cable from the charging station or wall socket.

Are Voldt charging cables suitable for every charging station in the Netherlands?

Yes, Voldt's Type 1 and Type 2 charging cables are suitable for any charging station in the Netherlands. (Please note that the Type 3 charging cables are only suitable for a Type 3 charging station that is normally found in France or Italy).
